Phoenix to celebrate Arizona Centennial

PHOENIX – Arizona will be celebrating its Centennial with an extravaganza event in downtown Phoenix Saturday, February 11 andSunday, February 12.
Arizona Best Fest Phoenix will cover the Arizona State Capitol complex and its streets from 10th Avenue to 17th Avenue along Washington Street, also known as “Centennial Way.”
The free street event features mainstage headliners, educational traveling museums, cultural villages, a Western town, an Arizona storytellers theater, Arizona wines and craft beers, Arizona 100 art show, a family fun zone and much more, according to the Arizona Centennial commission.
It will also mark the ending point for the Arizona Centennial Motorcycle Ride on Saturday with Honorary Chairman Dierks Bentley, and the drawing for the Copper Chopper drawing on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
Arizona Best Fest held its first event in Prescott in September with more than 70,000 people attending. Tucson will also hold a Centennial celebration on February 11 and 12.
Scheduled performers include Michelle Branch, Jerry Riopelle and the Gin Blossoms on Saturday and George Benson on Sunday. Other entertainers include Esteban, Marshall Trimble, Dolan Elis and Rex Allen Jr.
Best Fest Phoenix attendees are encouraged to take the Metro Light Rail and connect with city buses to the east main entrance at 10th Avenue and Washington Street. Additional buses are planned for the event.
