Glendale High School will begin their centennial celebration this week. Glendale High School is the oldest high school on the original land-site in Arizona. The school opened with 28 students in 1911, while Arizona was still a territory and not yet a state. Fast forward 100 years, over 90,000 students have attended Glendale High School. Present yearly attendance is approximately 1,700 on the 33 acre campus.
The public including all alumni, previous faculty, staff, parents are invited to join in the week of festivities. Many people who live in Arizona retirement communities Sun City, Sun City West and Sun City Grand are associated with Glendale High School.
Centennial Activities
October 12, 2011 carnival and bonfire 6pm to 8pm
October 13, 2011 the campus will be open to students, faculty and alumni 4pm to 6pm
6:30 pm Dedication of facilities
4:30pm to 9pm Car show
October 14, 2011 Parade from Cerretas Candy to Glendale High School 1pm to 2pm
3pm to 4pm Lowering of a time capsule
4:30pm to 6:30pm Alumni Tailgate Party
6:30pm to 9pm Homecoming Football Game
Alumni dance 9 pm. to 2 am at the Glendale Civic Center
