Arizona Constitution celebrates 100th year

PHOENIX – State officials will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the signing of Arizona’s Constitution Thursday.
On December 9, 1910, delegates for the territory of Arizona gathered to sign the newly crafted constitution in anticipation of statehood.
According to the Arizona Historical Advisory Commission , from October 10, 1910 to December 9, 1910, 52 representatives from every region of the soon-to-be state toiled over the document.
In the end, the Arizona Constitution became the cornerstone of the 48th state to enter the Union.
The Arizona Historical Advisory Commission and The Arizona Centennial Commission will host Thursday’s 2 p.m. event in the old Senate chambers at the State Capitol museum with Gov. Jan Brewer, Secretary of State Ken Bennett, Arizona Supreme Court Justices, with former Valley radio host Dave Pratt serving as Master of Ceremonies.
The Advisory and Centennial commissions are searching for descendants of the delegates of the 1910 Arizona Constitution Convention.
